Dance styles

So many dance styles exist that I don’t even know where to begin writing. I guess the main and more common would be jazz, hip hop, ballet, street dancing, tap dancing and for a more exotic feel there are salsa, tango, merengue, paso doble, cha cha etc. And of course many more are on the way as new styles are created frequently by mixing different steps and rythms.

Throughout the ages dancing was and still is a form of expressing and is a mixture of cultural and national structure and it seems like every country has a signature dance. For instance The Caribbean are known for salsa, merengue, bachata and other latin dances, Brazil for samba, the USA for swing, foxtrot, hip hop. Spain for flamenco, Russia for ballet, Turkey for belly dancing and I could go on and on.

Why people dance you may ask? Probably because of the feeling that comes with dancing. I know i feel free and eliberated and it always makes me smile. Some do it just for the exercise. You can strenghten and stretch your muscles, become more flexible and overall more healthy. I believe dancers have the best bodies just because you have to work with every part and every muscle to make the movement look good. It doesn’t even matter what dance style you prefer as long as you it puts a big smile on your face! :)
