About La Luna

So, what can I really say about our little dance group… I guess explaining it from the beginning would be best. It started years ago when we were still in elementary school – by we i mean Tina, Urska, Ales and me, Nika – and were just starting to discover our passion for the DANCE. Dancing has always been a part of our lives, weather it was hard training, performing or just dancing in the school gym after class with some friends.

Urska started dancing at the young age of 6 in Kazina, a dancing school here in Ljubljana. Her favourite style is jazz ballet, but she also has years of training in tap and standard latin dancing.

Then there is Tina, who began dancing jazz ballet half way through elementary school in Mojca Horvat’s dance school. And i could also say the same for Ales and me. We were actually training together a few years. I was the first one to stop dancing there, and went on to ProDance Studio for a few years.

Ales started out as a figure skater, which he trained for a couple of years – he is amazing by the way. He then joined Mojca’s dance school, but got injured and therefore couldn’t dance for quite some time. Tina went on to cheer-leading she loves so much.

And then I met Urska in high school, where we started to train together in the school gym after hours. Shortly after Tina and Ales came along and we formed our very own group.

I can definitely say we have lots of fun spending time practising and sweating. We learn so much from each other – Ales always teaches us some crazy acrobatics, Tina makes sure we have the performing spirit every dance team has to have, Urska usually stretches our muscles to the limit, and me, well I guess I just manage the team in a way - I take care of performances, costumes,…

Sadly Ales left us quite soon in persuit of studying abroad and therefore moved no Novi Sad for a whole year. We miss you and can’t wait for you to come back!!!

The rest of us now train in BU-BA, which is a recreational and dance center here in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It is a great place to learn different dances such as salsa, rueda, swing, standard dances, etc. We also preform for them at various events, mostly related to salsa.

Facts on La Luna:

- we love and do lots of different styles of dancing – from modern, show, tap to salsa, reggaeton, tango and we try to combine at least two styles for a performance

- we’re absolutely crazy about lifts, although we are currently without a strong man to hold us:( …. anyone interested?

- we’re energetic, funloving, hardworking, ready for new challenges … bring it on :)
